Consider the Lyrics

If you are playing a song with lyrics, consider what those lyrics communicate.

Some topics may be emotionally difficult or inappropriate for a particular setting.

Be aware of lyrics involving topics such as:

• Self-harm
• Death
• Loss of a loved one
• Other heavy or emotionally sensitive subjects

The goal is not simply to choose music the practitioner enjoys. The selection should be appropriate for the patient and the surrounding environment.
